In his early years Mika Tervonen studied visual arts in different schools. He like to draw comics and create his own short animations. When Mika was a child his father introduced him to cinematography by bringing video cameras into their household. Mika's mother encouraged him to write short stories instead of shooting some random material.

Before starting his film studies Mika Tervonen made an internet based sketch comedy serie with an amateur crew. Self studying the CGI tricks, cinematography and editing skills gave the possibilities to get into the film school in Helsinki.
